JHT Awarded E-6B MRTS 3D® Contract

Nov. 17, 2021 - Orlando, FL

JHT Incorporated announced today that they were awarded a simulation development contract in support of the Navy E-6B aircraft training center in Tinker, Okla. The contract is valued at approximately $6,600,000 and was awarded as a Phase III project under JHT’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract.

The Navy E-6B Mercury is a communications relay and strategic airborne command post aircraft. Integrated into a Boeing 707 airframe, the E-6B provides reliable and endurable airborne command, control, and communications between the National Command Authority (NCA) and the U.S. Strategic and non-strategic forces. Two squadrons, the “Ironmen” of VQ-3 and the “Shadows” of VQ-4 are stationed at Tinker Air Force Base, Okla. along with the schoolhouse responsible for training Navy pilots, aircrew, and maintenance personnel.

The 3-Dimensional Multi-Purpose Reconfigurable Training System (MRTS 3D®) is a game-based simulation system developed by the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) in Orlando, Fla. JHT will be developing MRTS 3D® training content that is intended to replace the Navy’s aging E-6B Mission Avionics Systems Trainer (MAST) while incorporating capability to train on new avionics block upgrades.

“We are excited to kick off this project and continue supporting the Navy, as we have for our 31 years in business,” said Carla Holoman, JHT President and COO. “Our team excels when given the opportunity to deliver enhanced, modern capability to the warfighter.”

The 27-month development effort is schedule for completion in early 2024 and will result in delivery of a MRTS 3D® simulation lab comprised of eight student stations controlled by an Instructor Operating Station (IOS) at the E-6B training facility in Tinker, Okla.
